Residential IT · Home Tech Support

Home tech help that's patient, plain-spoken, and local.

New computer to set up? Printer that won't print? WiFi that drops in half the house? A relative who keeps getting scam calls? We come to your home, fix it, and explain it in language that actually makes sense. No jargon, no judgment, no 1-800 runaround.

// What we actually help with

If any of this sounds familiar, we can help.

Most home tech problems aren't complicated, they're just frustrating. Here's the kind of thing we get called for every week. If your situation isn't listed, call and describe it. We've probably seen it.

01

New device setup

New computer, tablet, or phone that needs to be set up the right way. We transfer your files, photos, email, and settings from the old device, get your accounts and printer working, and install what you actually use.

02

Printer problems

The single most common call we get. Printers that won't connect, won't print, print blank pages, or randomly drop off the WiFi. We get it working and show you how to keep it that way.

03

WiFi & connection help

WiFi that doesn't reach the bedroom, devices that won't connect, a network that needs a password change. For bigger coverage problems we also do full home networking, but a lot of WiFi headaches are a quick fix.

04

Slow or misbehaving computer

Pop-ups, slowdowns, strange behavior, programs that won't close. Usually malware, clutter, or a tired hard drive. We back up your files first, clean it up, and tell you honestly if it's time for a new machine.

05

Virus & malware cleanup

If something got installed that shouldn't have, or you clicked a link you regret, we remove it, secure your accounts, and lock things down so it doesn't happen again.

06

Email & account recovery

Locked out of your email? Forgotten passwords? Account that got compromised? We help you regain access, secure it properly, and set up password and two-factor protection that you'll actually be able to use.

07

Smart TV & streaming

New TV that won't connect, streaming apps that won't log in, too many remotes, a setup nobody in the house can figure out. We make it work and make it simple.

08

Patient one-on-one help

Sometimes you just want someone to sit down, answer your questions, and show you how to do the things you need to do, without making you feel rushed or talked down to. That's a service too.

// A note on helping older relatives

We're the tech help you'd want for your own parents.

A lot of our support calls come from adult children setting us up to help a parent, or from older homeowners who are tired of feeling lost with their devices. We take that work seriously and we're good at it.

We're patient. We explain things once, then again if needed, without the sighing. We write things down. And we pay special attention to scam and fraud protection, because older adults are targeted more than anyone and a single bad click can do real damage.

Riley has given scam-prevention and phishing-awareness talks at senior centers across the area. That same patience and plain-language teaching comes to every in-home visit.

// How it works

Three steps, no mystery.

I

Tell us what's wrong

Call or message and describe the problem in your own words. You don't need to know the technical terms. We'll figure out whether it's a quick remote fix or an in-home visit.

II

We show up or log in

For in-home visits we book a time that works for you. For remote help we connect securely while you watch. Either way it's the same technician, $125 an hour, one-hour minimum.

III

We fix it and explain it

We solve the problem and then show you what happened and how to handle it if it comes up again. You're never left with a fix you don't understand.

Questions homeowners actually ask.

How much does home IT support cost?
Home IT support is $125 per hour with a one-hour minimum, whether we come to your house or help you remotely. There's no diagnostic fee for support work and no surprise charges. If a job is going to take more than an hour, we give you the estimate before we start so the bill is never a surprise.
Do you come to my house, or do I have to bring my computer in?
For support work like device setup, printer problems, WiFi issues, account help, and cleanup, we come to you. A lot of that can also be done remotely if you'd rather not wait for a visit. Hardware repairs, like a cracked laptop screen or a console that won't power on, are drop-off at our Whitewater shop because that work needs the bench and the right tools.
Can you help an older parent or relative with their technology?
Yes, and honestly it's some of our favorite work. We're patient, we don't talk down to anyone, and we explain things in plain language. We help with setting up devices, organizing photos, video calling family, staying safe from scams, and generally making technology less stressful. We've given scam-prevention talks at senior centers and we bring that same patience into the home.
Can you help me avoid scams and tech support fraud?
Yes. Scam prevention is a real part of what we do, especially for older homeowners who get targeted the most. We can review your accounts, set up safer passwords and two-factor authentication, show you how to spot phishing emails and fake tech-support pop-ups, and remove anything a previous scammer may have installed. If you've gotten a suspicious call or message, call us before you act on it and we'll tell you whether it's legitimate.
My computer is slow or acting strange. Will I lose my files?
Usually not. Slowdowns, pop-ups, and strange behavior are often malware, too many startup programs, or a failing hard drive. We always back up your important files before making any changes, then diagnose the cause, clean up or repair the system, and get you running again. If a device is genuinely at the end of its life, we'll tell you honestly instead of charging you to repair something that isn't worth it.
Can you set up a new computer and move everything from my old one?
Yes, this is one of the most common things we help with. We transfer your files, photos, email, bookmarks, and settings from the old computer, set up your accounts and printer, install the software you use, and make sure everything works before we leave. You end up with a new machine that feels like your old one, minus the problems.
What areas do you cover for in-home visits?
We cover Whitewater, Fort Atkinson, Jefferson, Lake Mills, Lake Geneva, Janesville, Beloit, and the surrounding towns, plus Madison and Milwaukee for scheduled visits. If you're a bit outside that range, call and ask. Remote support is available anywhere.
